Doot Doola Doot Doo...

Nardwuar never disappoints, and he brought these guys up when he interviewed Roky Erickson in Austin so I had to check them out. They never released a record, but in 1987 issued this retrospective of material recorded at their club, The Vulcan Gas Company, in ’67 & ’68. Here’s a preview; strong Elevators spooky-psych vibe goin on…
She lives @256k.
–A.Last Laugh

Cali crossover record from ’88 by a bunch of bleeding heart cornballs that somehow knew how to shred. Nice album art huh?
Get low @192k.
–A.This Chapel of Ritual...
When was the last time you heard something this badass?
–A.Magic starts a fever

Just another really beautiful UK folk/psych record with chicks singing about wizards and lighthouses and shit. Two of the songs on this album were in ‘A Clockwork Orange;’ see if you can figure out which ones without cheating.
Enjoy @ 192k
–A.Coalinga Love

Goofball death metal/weird shit record from 1997 with Neil Hamburger on vocals. Blast beats, harpsichords, gross sounds… very enjoyable album.
Have at it…v0.
–A.Lord, give me strength...

This dude turned me on to Cologne-based Can lovers Workshop last summer and I just found their 2004 album Yog Sothoth the other day. Alex thought I was pulling his leg when I told him people call this krautrock, I guess since he’s German. Killer record though, give it a listen. I wonder if track 16 is about this guy:
Get it @ v0.
P.S. welcome back to the zone
–A.
