Burgundy & Beaujolais

Some seriously ethereal shit from Judy Dyble of Fairport Convention and Jackie McAuley of Them, released in 1970. At times delicate and at others foreboding, this is a true gem of psychedelic British folk rock that sounds better with each listen. 100% beautiful & transcendent from start to finish.

Enjoy a taste of the Old World @ 256k.</a.

Time Marches On

Ride the Lightning, about 33% slower. Exceptionally brutal. James Hetfield sounds like Beelzebub or DJ Skrew.

Styrofoam cup at 320 kbps.

Arvo Pärt

I know many nights have passed in the depths since my last visit, and I apologize for my lengthy absence; sometimes our curiosities are piqued by shallower waters. But rest assured, the Hadal Zone is rife with shadowy artifacts destined to surface in the coming weeks.

First, the appropriately named De Profundis, Arvo Pärt’s 1980 choral composition with organ and percussion. This recording was performed by the Hilliard Ensemble:

De profundis clamavi ad te, Domine;
Domine, exaudi vocem meam.
Fiant aures tuae intendentes
in vocem deprecationis meae.
Si iniquitates observaveris, Domine,
Domine, quis sustinebit?
Quia apud te propitiatio est,
et propter legem tuam.
Sustinui te, Domine,
sustinuit anima mea in verbo eius;
speravit anima mea in Domino
a custodia matutina usque ad noctem
speret Israel in Domino,
quia apud Dominum misericordia,
et copiosa apud eum redemptio.
Et ipse redimet Israel
ex omnibus iniquitatibus eius.
